Healing-Scents Mineral Make up Product Ingredient Philosophy Our philosophy is simple: We include ingredients that are either beneficial or benign that make our skin look softer and prettier, our eyes brighter, and our lips more smooth. We do not use ingredients whose sole purpose is to improve the look or texture of the product in the jar; that is simply not our mission. So if our liners look handmade, or our powders not so silky as Brand X, that's okay with us! Our mission is to: a. Help our customers look and feel prettier in a natural way. b. Protect their skin from sun damage and pollution. c. Rejuvenate and restore damaged skin, as well as keep it soft and hydrated. d. Avoid toxic or irritating ingredients, even natural ones. e. Create long-wearing, wearable cosmetic products that make beauty rituals simpler, and fewer for busy women. The ingredients that we exclude are: dyes, lakes, carmine, synthetic fragrance, talc, bismuth oxychloride, petroleum derivatives, sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate, methylparaben, propylparaben, UREA, and others. Makeup by its very use is “toxic” to our skin. It is designed to cover the skin densely to hide imperfections. I started offering makeup because my regular customers as what I used….when I reply: “my makeup” they ask that I sell it. I rarely wear makeup. I believe real is better than covered. We are rated a 1 on the EWG's database. Mica, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are not toxic…. Mica is rated a 2; our zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are rated a 1. This is not a toxic product. If you want a makeup without mica, zinc and titanium oxide; you need to order from Coastal Classic Creations or one of the other companies. I am not trying to keep up with the huge companies. I make products I know work and trust to be safe. I do not say my products are “organic” only that they are real and natural and work. I do not have the expertise to work up a formula directly with cornstarch, kaolin clay and iron oxides. My belief is that the excess blending that it takes to put these together, will “micronize” all those particles making them fall into the pores and enter the dermal layer. The Mascara, Eye Liner Pencils, WaterColors Nail Polish are from Honeybee Gardens. I purchase thel oxides and a foundation base from Essential Wholesale and or From Nature With Love. The Mineral Foundation and Mineral Colors are my own formulations. |
My Tinted Face Screen kit
This is an item we have been testing and playing around with for a long time. -- Tinted sunscreen for the face --Use as liquid foundation also. It is too difficult for us to try to get the perfect shade....so that is what the kit is for!
Kit includes: 2 oz. Live Long Sunscreen; 2 oz. labeled empty jar; 1 oz. Mineral Foundation Powder.
You will need to decide which 1 oz. color of the Mineral Makeup Foundation would be best for you.
I used a Light Cappuccino for myself--much darker than my normal shade of Fair/Fawn blend.
Detailed directions for mixing Face Screen: In a clean bowl; put about 1 1/4 oz. sunscreen. Add 1/2 Tablespoon of Foundation powder. Mix well using a wire whisk (best option); a fork works also. Test color. Slowly add powder and/or sunscreen to create your perfect color.
It usually takes about 1 Tablespoon or more of Foundation powder to 1 1/2 to 2 oz. Sunscreen to tint it well. Carefully put in labeled jar.
I will use this as makeup--finish with just a brush of the mineral foundation powder; then rice powder over it.
Once you have practiced these directions; you can make your larger size sunscreen have more tint by adjusting the ratios.

Mineral Foundation Powder
This wonderful lightweight silky mineral powder is amazing as a concealer (simply use wet), foundation and powder. We suggest using the residue of the foundation in the lid of the container to dip into. Simply tap off any excess powder from your brush before application. To use as a spot concealer, simply wet the tip of a small makeup brush and dip ever so slightly into the lid of the container and apply to face.
As a powder, first apply Blemish stick or Acne Gel on problem areas. Apply Forever Young Face Cream to rest of face. Let soak in and set for 10-15 minutes. For a light to medium coverage, apply to face with a soft and fluffy powder brush.
As a foundation, in order to achieve a medium to heavy coverage, we suggest using a foundation brush or sponge. Applying with a damp sponge will give you still darker, heavier and more intense coverage.
If you really enjoy liquid foundations, our little trick is to mix our Unscented Ultimate Lotion to a little bit of the powder and blend to the desired color and consistency and then apply to the face. Mix first, do not apply the powder to a freshly (and still wet) moisturized face. You will get a cakey look.
Colors:
Peach Pearl: the lightest complexions. Asian Pearl: the lightest of Asian complexions. Fair: light complexions with cool and neutral undertones.
Fawn: Light medium complexion with warm or neutral undertones. Golden Glow: Asian skin tones; yellow or golden undertones. Warm Glow: Medium complexion with cool or neutral undertones.
Light Cappuccino: Medium complexion with cool undertones.
Cappuccino: Medium to dark complexion with cool undertones. Latte: Medium to Dark complexion with neutral undertones.
Swiss Mocha: Dark complexions with cool or pink undertones.
Chestnut: Dark complexions with neutral undertones. Elm: Medium to Dark complexions with warm undertones.
Ingredients: non-micronized titanium dioxide, iron oxides, non-micronized zinc oxide, mica, rice powder
